Dragon Boat Team - Passion Empowers Perseverance
In Taiwan, the Dragon Boat Festival is in the season permeated with the aroma of Sticky Rice Dumplings. The boat paddles and drum beating elevated the exciting vibes in the summertime. Lucidity participated in Tainan City’s Dragon Boat Races male group every year – it is time to examine our training results over the past months. In the beginning, Lucidity Dragon Boat Team was gathered simply for the joy of participation in few years ago. Each team member gained experience and made self-enhancement through practices and matches gradually. Now it turns to a professional team shining on the stage. The team’s advance is a remarkable evolving process – from regular players to well-trained contestants with the spirit of perseverance.
Three months before the official races in June, the whole team spent hours on practices after work every week. They are trained with workouts and paddle synergy exercises in various ways. Physically, training must be solid and consistent to keep all in good shape. In spirit, sharing the same goal enables each partner to push themselves to keep up with the others. On the competition day, each dragon boat speeded up with the drum beating on the Tainan canal. As a sportsman, being part of this team makes us feel proud and motivated for future championships.
The team learns different techniques and conquers obstacles from competitions. The learning process requires diligence and perseverance. One teammate noted “We can see the improvement from 1’50” at the first time, followed by the third place of 1’39” in previous year. This year, we stand on the stage for the 2nd place of 1’41”. Such achievement will not be made without the persistence of practices year by year.” Our president Wayne said, “Success is a series of efforts, there is no miracle or shortcut for it.” Through different trainings and friendly matches, the team now levels up in both physical strength and teamwork synergy. We believe the way to the championship was being paved and we will stand on the center of the podium one day.
